I'm not going to share a recipe for the best cake, I'm not much of a pastry chef anyway. What I am going to share with you are some pictures of my wedding cake. Eatingplum recently wrote about a cake-making class that she took and shared with her readers her first fondant cake. It reminded me of my wedding cake. My wife and I got married at the Westin Rio Mar in Puerto Rico (it's now a Wyndham property and not as nice in my opinion) and the pastry chef recreated a cake for us that we saw online.
J and I sent along a picture of the cake we wanted and the Westin's pastry chef created this masterpiece for us. The cake was vanilla with strawberry filling, and it was delicious. It was even good a year later, straight out of the freezer on our first anniversary. You might be thinking that it's an awfully small wedding cake, but there were only ten people at our wedding so it was plenty!

That is so cute! I tried playing with fondant before....let's just say that I'll keep out of the baking and decorating department.
ReplyDeleteHi Steamy, thanks for stopping by. I've never attempted anything with fondant, but I've recently started seeing the fondant mixes in the baking aisle of my local market...maybe some day.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love the smiling faces on the bride and groom.
ReplyDeleteHi Christina, thanks! J and I were so happy how the cake came out. Not only was it fun to see but it tasted sooo good! I'd expect nothing less from a Westin.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous and fun cake!
